Body movement is a powerful tail with two horizontal rowing a leaf on the end. The front limbs have evolved into flippers, the back is completely missing. Nostrils (blowhole) are on the top of the head.
Mating, birthing and feeding of offspring occur in the water. The litter usually one pup, although there are twins.
